Why co-working could be the key to your growth....

Have you ever considered co-working to support your growth? If you have never dipped your toe in, then let me tell you my own personal experience and see if it can tempt you to explore how co-work spaces can really open up new possibilities for you.
I first started my journey into co-working back in 2020 a year into my entrepreneurial journey (after leaving my corporate career of 10 years). I spent the summer in Mallorca co-living and co-working with a group of internationals in the hills of Valldemossa. It was honestly quite intense, and not something I would do again in a heartbeat; both living and working with people is a lot, and now I keep that just to me and my partner! BUT, what did I walk away with from those 4 weeks was the start of a new project, as well as the team who would support me to bring it to life. Friendships and likeminded women who I am still in touch with today- in fact I just reached out to one this week to support me with some of my current marketing objectives. I spent 3 weeks in the company of a long term successful founder who shared so much wisdom that I regularly call on in my workings today. And in the true Spanish way I also learnt nd practiced the art of connection first, and work second over shared community lunches, conversations in the sunshine, and a swim or stroll when things felt a little stuck.

In short it was a summer where I opened up to what it can look like to be in the world of entrepreneurship and collaboration.
So fast forward to 2021 and my partner, Joosty, had the inspiration to take over a local space that was going to become available. And I jumped at the idea. We went down the rabbit hole of innovation, ideas and what this 400sqm space could be to our neighbourhood. How in the weekdays it would serve as a co-working space to bring people together to focus, connect and get inspired....and then as the weekend neared how it would transform into a local makers wonderland of delicious foods in our Saturday Market.
We were pumped!
So we went for it, in August 2021 we got the keys, and in 12 weeks we transformed an exhausted and tired space into our playground of creation- and we called it Wrkshop.

We are now in to our 4th year and as I sit down and write this article I realise I never actually thought or realised just how important co-working and a community space would become for me.
Building my business hasn't been the easiest ride for me. After building my career in the corporate world for 10+ years, and having a very successful ride, becoming an entrepreneur was a totally different game. I know longer had the infrastructure of a big brand (I worked for Nike for most of my career); I know longer had the big team or big budgets, and what I missed most was the connection of people.
In those 2 years between leaving Nike and opening Wrkshop - even with the interlude of my trip to Mallorca- I found entrepreneurship incredibly isolating and lonely....and of course not to mention that it was also time when the world shut down.
We have been opening the doors of Wrkshop everyday since 2021 and whilst entrepreneurship has continued to be an intense ride in many ways (being a business owner is not for the faint hearted, if you know what I mean!); having a consistent space where I get to come to and follow the energy of creation has been invaluable for me.
Just this morning I felt exhausted after hosting a big event yesterday. My mind was spinning with the 100 things on my to do list, and the never ending ideas of making money and creations. It was alot...in fact way too much.
Back before Wrkshop I think I would have cocooned into my bed and hidden.
But now I slowly made my way to the office, opened the door turned on the lights and welcomed our regular co-worked through the door. Turned on some gentle soul music, made a fresh brew of filter coffee, slowed down and shed a little tear.
Perhaps this sounds like a little unconventional start to the day- but if you know the Wrkshop space you'll know just how much of a warm hug it is. This space isn't somewhere that makes you feel intense and stressed about your work- we built and designed it with so much love that it supports who you are and turns up the volume on sense of rest and chill- to be able to create from there.
So here I am (not doing the 100 things that were spinning in the head); but sat on one of our sofas, cosy and contently writing this to you. Because what this space gives me- and what I know it gives those who come here, is what every person building their business and career should deservedly get in their day to day lives.
